Iran ‘heedful’ of N-deal implementation by 5+1

TEHRAN, Jul. 29 (MNA) – Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said on Tue. Iran is keeping a close eye on the implementation of the nuclear deal by the 5+1.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani made the remark on Tuesday during a meeting with EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini who is in Tehran on an official visit.

Larijani further reminded the EU chief of France, Britain and Germany’s failure to comply with implementing the 2003 nuclear accord with Tehran, adding “if confirmed, Iran will remain committed to the provisions of the Vienna conclusion over its nuclear program and will implement them with care; however, if the Iranian nation sees the 5+1 countries are not complying with their commitments, the situation will change and Iran’s Parliament will be keeping a watchful eye on how the 5+1 implement the deal.”

Elsewhere, the Iranian official deemed positive the prospect of bilateral ties between Iran and Europe on mutual and regional issues, saying “Iran and the EU have common interests for developing mutual relations which can help improve the situation in the Mideast and eliminate the current threats in order to establish peace and stability in the region.”

He also maintained that Iran is giving special attention to joint investment with the EU especially in the field of energy and technology exchange, highlighting that the development of economic cooperation between the two sides would greatly strengthen relations in other areas.

Federica Mogherini, for her part, attached great significance to her trip to Tehran, saying “the EU has always considered Iran as an important and powerful partner and intends to revive the past deep relations with the Islamic Republic in all areas.”

Noting the EU’s concern with securing peace and sustainable stability in the Middle East, Mogherini added that Iran-EU cooperation in regional issues can have positive impacts on the region.

She also stated that Iran and the EU can boost cooperation in fighting terrorism and drug trafficking.

Federica Mogherini and her aid Helga Schmid are in an official visit to Iran to coordinate and help the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) that was reached between Iran and the 5+1 group of countries on July 14 in Vienna.
